To help its customers improve trailer safety, reduce maintenance costs, and optimize fleet management, Samsara has launched new Smart Trailer features .
The new Smart Trailer features provide critical trailer data insights to improve efficiency, regulatory compliance, and operational safety, the company said in a statement.
“With these new features, we’re giving fleet managers the tools they need to optimize trailer maintenance, improve safety, and reduce downtime,” said Julia Monroy , Samsara’s Regional Sales Director for Mexico.
New features include Automatic Tire Inflation Monitoring , which provides instant alerts about tire pressure abnormalities, preventing costly blowouts and reducing downtime by detecting hidden leaks.
Also, power monitoring , which ensures continuous tracking of the trailer’s location, even during a seven-way power loss, and issues no-power movement alerts to protect ABS functionality and improve road safety, among other features.
Another feature is the trailer-tractor mismatch alert . This feature sends real-time notifications whenever the wrong trailer is attached. It also helps identify and correct errors in dispatch systems, preventing delays and potential damage to cargo.
Also asset search , which allows trailers to be located in real time, using the Samsara Driver app , where drivers can see their assigned trailer, get directions to it and get on the road faster.
These features, along with Smart Trailer ABS monitoring capabilities , provide a comprehensive view of trailer health to keep drivers and communities safe.
“Smart Trailers has transformed our management of bed usage, helped us become more efficient, and we now schedule inspections to prevent violations. It also allows you to compare your performance against the U.S. Department of Transportation database to measure your indicators,” emphasized Javier Saldivar , director of AutoExpress Saldivar .
Samsara’s Smart Trailer solution uses GPS tracking and IoT technology to provide more sophisticated real-time information than what would be available through an average trailer tracker, such as utilization, temperature, location, and security.
