Technology is no longer just a tool for tracking a truck’s location. For Grupo MexAmerik , its integration has expanded to include trip management, security, driver evaluation, and the level of service offered to its customers .
Over the past few years, the carrier has developed a strategy in which its transportation management system (TMS) functions as the central hub for each trip and is integrated with different systems and technological solutions, in addition to incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) tools, explained Pablo Ocampo, CEO of Grupo MexAmerik.
“For many years we have been developing technology and part of what we do is use artificial intelligence now, integrating our TMS with different vertical systems,” he commented in an interview with T21.
This system centralizes information for each trip and is used to evaluate operators . It also determines awards and bonuses for operators, as well as providing information related to the level of service the company offers its customers.
Technology also for the operator
The adoption of new tools has also required involving those behind the wheel. Ocampo explained that the drivers have become accustomed to the constant incorporation of technology within the company, a strategy in which they also seek to ensure that the new solutions represent a benefit for them.
“We always aim to ensure it also benefits them. We always strive to improve the operator experience, supported by technology and, of course, by our people,” he emphasized.
The technological strategy also extends to asset security , through the monitoring of units, goods and operators via cameras and telemetry, in addition to the integration of their systems with the Samsara platform .
This work led Grupo MexAmerik to receive recognition in the Asset Protection category during Samsara’s “Connected Operations” event. Ocampo attributed the result to the daily work of the security and theft prevention teams, as well as the technological integration the company maintains with the platform.
“We are very pleased with the recognition. The truth is that it is hard work, day after day, by the security and theft prevention team,” he stated.
For Grupo MexAmerik, technological adoption is part of a strategy that seeks to connect tools with operations and people. Pablo Ocampo emphasized that the incorporation of new solutions remains linked to the company’s culture and aims to improve the experience of its drivers, while strengthening the tracking of each trip.
