
From January to September 2025, air cargo traffic in Mexico registered a decrease of 4.5% compared to the same period in 2024 , reported the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) .
The agency detailed that during this period, among the top 10 airports in cargo handling, Toluca experienced a 21% decrease , falling from 29,398 to 23,231 tons. Meanwhile, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) continued its downward trend with a 13.1% drop, registering 292,697 tons during the period, compared to 336,789 tons during the same period last year.
Mexico City International Airport (AICM) showed growth, as in January-September 2025 it moved 184,256 tons, that is, a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when it totaled 175,483 tons.
The agency highlighted that in terms of market share, AIFA obtained 32.6% , followed by AICM with 20.5%, Guadalajara with 14.9% and Monterrey with 6.3 percent.

AFAC detailed that domestic cargo decreased 2.4% from January to September , ending the period with 282,192 tons, 7,004 tons less
However, Mexico City International Airport (AICM) grew 11.2% during the reference period , ending with a cargo handling of 45,016 tons, that is, 4,534 tons more than in the same period of 2024. In the same vein are the airports of Querétaro and Monterrey, which showed a growth of 5.1% each, ending the first nine months of 2025 with 40,582 tons and 25,170 tons, respectively.

Internationally, cargo volume declined by 5.4% , falling from 650,249 tons in the January-September period of 2024 to 615,182 tons in the same period this year. Within this segment, AIFA reported the largest drop at 11.9% , falling from 323,839 tons to 285,250 tons.
