Mexico accumulated eight consecutive months of growth in air cargo movement, registering a 4.5% increase in the handling of goods between January and August , according to figures from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC).
The performance reflects the strength of this segment, driven by foreign trade demand, the relocation of supply chains and increased logistics activity at the country’s main airports.
According to data from AFAC, from January to August of this year 835,883.9 tons were transported, which resulted in an increase of 4.5% compared to the same period last year.
The top 10 of the country’s main airports continues to be led by Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) which had an increase of 5.8%, this to the period with 276,756.4 tons, 15,136.1 tons more than in the same period of 2025.
It should be remembered that by presidential decree, air cargo in the Valley of Mexico must be handled by AIFA, instead of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) , which only handles cargo from passenger airlines.
The airport with the largest decrease was Toluca International Airport (AIT) with a 21.7% drop, going from 20,832.4 tons to 16,315.8 tons.

AFAC indicated that the national movement registered a decrease of 1.9% since the period ended with 244,482.7 tons, that is, four thousand 677.6 tons less.

Similarly, the agency reported that international cargo generated a year-on-year growth of 7.3%, going from 550,974.2 tons to 591,401.2 tons.
