
The manufacturing sector boosted the value of exports from Mexico’s federal entities, which in the first quarter of 2026 (1Q26) totaled 158 billion 117.5 million dollars (mdd) , a growth of 17.9% compared to the same period in 2025, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) announced this Tuesday .
In the report on Quarterly Export Results by Federal Entity (ETEF), the agency highlighted that Chihuahua with 22.8%, Jalisco with 11%, Coahuila with 9.4%, Nuevo León with 9.2%, Baja California with 8.2%, Guanajuato with 6.3% and Tamaulipas with 4.9% contributed 71.8% of the total value of merchandise shipments abroad in the period at an annual rate .

Chihuahua, which topped the list in the January-March 2026 cycle, registered operations for 35,986.2 million dollars , derived from the export of manufactured products such as vehicle parts and accessories, electronic equipment and computers.
Jalisco contributed 17,377.5 million dollars , explained by goods from the manufacturing sector, followed by agriculture and mining.
During that period, Coahuila registered exports of $14.889 billion . Nuevo León’s exports totaled $14.5376 billion ; Baja California reported a contribution of $12.9466 billion to Mexican exports . Guanajuato’s exports reached $10.0206 billion, and Tamaulipas’s $7.6997 billion .
Exports by economic activity
By economic sector, in Q1 2026, manufacturing accounted for 92.3% of the total value of exports from the states. This was followed by mining (both oil and non-oil) at 4.8%, and the agricultural sector at 2.9%.
By economic sector, manufacturing increased by 19.9 percent. Mining grew by 6.8 percent, while agriculture decreased by 13.1 percent year-on-year.
Exports from the manufacturing sector in Jalisco, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Quintana Roo and Nayarit stood out due to their greater annual variation; as did those from the mining sector in Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Durango and Coahuila; and those from the agricultural sector in Quintana Roo, Guerrero, Tabasco, Chiapas and Coahuila.
For their contribution to the value of total exports, shipments abroad of computer, communication, measurement equipment and other electronic equipment, components and accessories stood out in the manufacturing sector , representing 31.7% of the total value in its annual measurement.
They were followed by the manufacture of transport equipment with 30.5%, and the manufacture of accessories, electrical appliances and electric power generation equipment with 5.2% annually.
Exports from the mining subsector of metallic and non-metallic minerals, except oil and gas, represented 3% and those from the agriculture subsector represented 2.8% annually.
According to the ETEF results, some states in the country registered good performance in their exports during the first quarter of the year, with several entities in northern Mexico maintaining their leadership during the period.
This performance is in line with the subsequent increase in sales of Mexican products abroad, which in May 2026 totaled 69,544 million dollars , which meant a growth of 25.4% compared to the same month of 2025, according to Inegi itself.
