UPS reported that it invested nearly $50 million in dedicated industrial networking capabilities and equipment to help automakers and industrial manufacturers operate with greater resilience and precision in North America.
In addition, it announced the expansion of its North American Air Freight (NAAF) capabilities, introducing for the first time a heavy cargo air service with guaranteed delivery to and from Mexico and expanding coverage in the region to better support production-critical supply chains.
“Our automotive and industrial customers want a simple logistics solution. They need reliability, visibility, and a partner that understands their supply chains end-to-end, today and tomorrow. We’ve made strategic investments to build the team and network that meet their needs like no other in the industry,” said Matt Guffey, UPS Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer.
Therefore, starting in August, NAAF will offer 1, 2, and 3-day service options to and from Mexico that help manufacturers transport high-value, time-sensitive parts more quickly and predictably.
“For UPS customers, this means fewer border delays, better visibility from origin to destination, and greater confidence in keeping production lines running,” he said.
He noted that in recent years, the company has modernized its network to improve reliability, visibility and speed, delivering measurable results for every customer, including automotive and industrial manufacturers.
Among them is the competitive value for less-than-full-load shipments with UPS Ground, offering freight rates for shipments over 150 pounds, especially for automotive and industrial carriers seeking reliability in small packages.
In addition, it expanded the scope of early delivery to include more US companies the following day at 10:30 a.m., a critical advantage for tight production deadlines.
It also provides greater visibility and control through automation in 67.5% of UPS facilities and integrated RFID detection technology throughout the network.
Similarly, it offers on-demand and after-hours delivery through Roadie , a UPS company, which allows same-day delivery of parts to dealerships and repair shops safely without the need for on-site personnel.
Complementing its comprehensive network, the company has established a dedicated team of over 300 subject matter experts with deep experience in automotive and industrial manufacturing.
“This combination of network investment and expertise comes at a critical time, as supply chain performance has become a key determinant of speed to market, cost control, and long-term competitiveness for manufacturers worldwide,” he said.
