Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (Asur) and Volaris reported a drop of 11.1% and 12.3% in passenger movement during last July, compared to the same period in 2023.
According to its report sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) , Asur specified that in said period it went from three million 987 thousand 375 users to three million 545 thousand 600.
The strongest impact was in the international market, which fell 12.7% , as it ended with one million 755 thousand 567 passengers from the two million 12 thousand 70 last year.
Regarding the national market, the concessionaire of nine airports in the country detailed that it went from one million 975 thousand 305 travelers to one million 790 thousand 33, which meant a decrease of 9.4 percent.
Regarding the closure from January to July, Asur also recorded a drop of 2% , because it transported 25 million 235 thousand 650 passengers compared to 25 million 758 thousand 497 last year.
Meanwhile, Volaris reported a 12.3% drop in passenger transportation from January to July, which caused it to go from three million 61 thousand passengers transported in 2023 to two million 685 thousand for the same period this year.
While capacity (ASMs) decreased 15% compared to the previous year, due to grounded aircraft, due to accelerated inspections of Pratt & Whitney engines .
“Our strategic fleet mitigation plan remains underway with favorable results; We have met our goals since engine inspections began. Currently, we have a well-balanced market mix, with a greater presence in the cross-border market, which is strengthening our unit revenues,” said Enrique Beltranena, executive president and CEO of Volaris.
