
The American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico (AmCham Mexico) appointed Oscar Del Cueto , president of Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) of Mexico , as its new leader for the 2026-2027 period .
The appointment was formalized during the 109th General Assembly of Members of the business organization, held this Wednesday.
Upon assuming office, Del Cueto emphasized the importance of strengthening North American economic integration and consolidating coordinated efforts. In this regard, he highlighted the role of the AmCham as a technical and proactive partner on strategic issues for the region, such as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) , as well as competitiveness, attracting investment, and other matters.
“We have the opportunity to strengthen our leadership, to influence major debates, and to ensure that the voice of our business community is heard, respected, and considered at the highest levels of decision-making,” he emphasized.
AmCham is a key player in the trade negotiations between Mexico and the United States . It’s worth noting that this Wednesday, March 18, according to Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy , the first meeting in the formal review of the USMCA will begin , where the Mexican government will propose maintaining the trade agreement and eliminating tariffs.
During his first message, Del Cueto also acknowledged the work of the outgoing AmCham Board of Directors , headed by Carlos García, president of Valero , and Fernanda Guarro, CEO of 3M , thanking them for their commitment and results at the head of the business chamber.
The new president of AmCham Mexico called for anticipating challenges, generating agreements, and moving towards a modern, long-term-oriented chamber, with the goal of promoting sustainable and shared economic growth.
The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Mexico brings together Mexican and American companies with the aim of promoting bilateral trade and strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries. Currently, the organization has more than 1,450 member companies.
CPKC of Mexico has been part of AmCham for more than 10 years, actively participating in binational business sector initiatives.
Among its former presidents is José Zozaya, former head of the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA) , who also served for more than 14 years as president, general manager and executive representative of Kansas City Southern de México (KCSM), now CPKC, and was also at the head of the Mexican Association of Railways (AMF) .
Also present was Jorge Torres, Vice President of Operations for FedEx Mexico , who was also Vice President of the Council of Global Companies and the Mexican Association of Courier Companies.
