Trayecto ‘s sustainability vision (number 1 in the Top 100 in Motor Transport ) of reducing emissions and being part of the solution in reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) is maintained and strengthened with the addition of a new fleet of tractor-trailers fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG) .
According to Hexagon Agility , a new order for 100 CNG-powered tractor units has been received, to be operated by Trayecto. “Each vehicle will incorporate Hexagon Agility’s largest onboard CNG system available, as well as the new Cummins X15N natural gas engine,” a statement said.
The incorporation of these units was achieved through collaboration with Kenworth Mexicana and Cummins, which supplies the X15N engine for Mexico and Latin America.
“This is a defining moment for clean transportation in this region of the world, where fleets have longed for access to a viable alternative to diesel for heavy-duty, long-haul applications,” said Eric Bippus, commercial director of Hexagon Agility.
The Route tractors will be equipped with one of Hexagon Agility’s most widely available CNG fuel systems, offering unprecedented storage capacity and range .
These configurations will allow the Journey to have a range of over 1,000 kilometers (depending on payload and terrain). “These extended-range systems are critical to maintaining operational efficiency and drastically reducing emissions,” Hexagon said.
This order from Route, along with the one Hexagon has received from other companies such as UPS, supports the transition to clean and scalable freight transportation technologies.
Trayecto has been recognized on several occasions at the Transportation Awards with the “Sustainability Award in the category of more than 1,000 tractor-trailers,” with its decarbonization strategy through the incorporation of less polluting vehicles being one of the elements valued.
