Short-sea shipping is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico. Green Tide Logistics (GTL) recently announced the launch of a direct, biweekly (weekly, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2025) container shipping service connecting Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with the Mexican ports of Tuxpan and Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz.
The first departure is scheduled for July 28th.
According to the statement, the route offers fast, reliable, clean, and efficient transportation for importers and exporters in the United States and Mexico seeking an alternative to highly congested land routes.
Among other highlights of the service, it was noted that there will be vessel capacity to transport 53-foot, 20-foot, and 40-foot containers (dry and refrigerated), break bulk cargo, and special projects ; transit time is between five and six days between Tuxpan and Filadelfia.
“This is more than a new route; it’s a step forward in the transformation of cargo movement in North America. With high efficiency, sustainability, reliability, and speed, we offer our customers a smarter, cleaner, and more strategic supply chain. With this new maritime corridor, GTL is redefining the way cargo moves between the U.S. East Coast and the Gulf Coast,” according to Hans Schriwer, CEO of GTL, quoted in the statement.
