Sales of heavy vehicles in Mexico hit a significant slowdown last June, with a widespread decline compared to the same month last year, according to the monthly report of the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Manufacturers (ANPACT) .
The wholesale market registered a 66.8% drop compared to the same month in 2024, with 2,228 units sold (cargo and passenger vehicles).
The sharpest drop was observed in wholesale freight vehicles , which fell from 6,046 units in June 2024 to just 1,936 during the sixth month of this year, a contraction of 68 percent .
Particularly worrying was the collapse in fifth-wheel tractor-trailers, with a decrease of 78.7% , going from 4,032 to 897 units .

In turn, retail sales contracted by 31.8% , with the sale of 3,066 units (cargo and passengers) .
The cargo segment also declined, although to a lesser extent: 2,422 units sold compared to 3,866 in June of the previous year, representing a 37.4% decrease .
In the case of passenger vehicles , wholesale sales fell by 55.6% , closing at 292 units , while retail sales totaled 644 , a decrease of 2.7% compared to 2024.

The Class 2 and 3 cargo segments were the exception. In retail sales , these categories increased by 85.8% , rising from 395 to 734 units . Class 2, in particular, doubled its figures with an 84.1% increase , driven by interest in lighter, more efficient vehicles for urban delivery.
The overall balance sheet reflects a challenging semester for the heavy vehicle manufacturing industry in Mexico. While the sector expects rebounds in the second half of the year, the data confirms the slowdown that specialists had anticipated since the beginning of the year.
