The heavy vehicle market in Mexico showed signs of recovery during June 2026, particularly in wholesale sales, where the cargo segment drove significant growth compared to the same month last year. However, the retail market continues to reflect the adjustment process the industry is undergoing, with accumulated declines in both cargo and passenger sales.

According to the most recent statistical bulletin of the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Producers (ANPACT) , wholesale sales reached 3,272 units in June 2026, an increase of 46.9% compared to the 2,228 sold in the same month of 2025.

In cumulative figures from January to June , wholesale sales totaled 14,747 vehicles , a growth of 3.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The cargo segment was once again the main driver of the monthly results. During June, it sold 2,763 units wholesale, a year-over-year increase of 42.7 percent . Within this segment , fifth-wheel tractors stood out with a 74.7 percent increase in sales , followed by Class 4 trucks  , which advanced 56.1 percent , and Class 8 trucks , which increased 39.0 percent .

Year-to-date, the wholesale market maintained positive performance, although pressures persist in some key categories. Fifth-wheel tractor-trailers saw a 17.0% decrease between January and June, falling from 6,960 units in 2025 to 5,776 in 2026. Intercity buses also continued their downward trend, registering a 30.7% drop during the same period.

Retail continues to lag behind

In the retail sector , the performance was more moderate. During June 2026, 3,184 units were sold, a 3.8% increase compared to the same month in 2025. However, the cumulative total from January to June showed a 22.2% decrease, with 15,794 units sold.

Of that total, the cargo segment accounted for 13,626 units in January-June, a drop of 19.9%, while passenger vehicles totaled 2,168 units, with a decrease of 34.1% in the same period.

Within the retail market, the cargo segment registered a 15.3% growth last June, driven primarily by Class 4 trucks  with a 53.4% increase , and Class 8 trucks  , which advanced 24.4% . However, fifth-wheel tractors , despite a monthly growth of 10.2% , maintain a cumulative decline of 33.8% in the January-June period.

In contrast, the passenger segment continues to show weak performance in retail. During June, it registered a decrease of 39.1% , mainly affected by drops of 48.9% in Class 7 , 61.9% in Class 8 , and 10.4% in intercity buses . Year-to-date, passenger sales have fallen 34.1% , while intercity bus sales remain down 31.0% .

Although June allowed the wholesale market to return to positive territory, the performance of the retail market confirms that the recovery remains uneven across segments and that long-haul tractors and passenger transport continue to face the greatest pressures so far this year.
