This Monday, the second access to the northern area of the port of Manzanillo came into service , the busiest commercial port on the Mexican Pacific coast, which has recently faced operational difficulties, mainly with activities related to cargo transportation.
The National Port System Administration (Asipona) Manzanillo reported in a statement that the opening of this access implies “significant changes” in the circulation to enter the port.
Transport units leaving customs in the northern area: They must join the exit lane towards the second access and continue until the intersection with Correos de México street, then take the exit towards José Mesina street or Nutria street via Tapeixtles street.
Export units to the north and south from Jalipa: They must enter via the Pez Vela–Jalipa highway towards Algodones Street and go to the second access.
Export units from the old Colima highway (free): They must enter through Avenida del Trabajo towards Algodones Street and go to the second access.
Export units from yards near José Mesina Street: They must join Algodones Street and then head to the second access.
Outgoing transport units from customs in the southern area: They will join the exit lane towards the Jalipa-Puerto highway or, in the direction of Tapeixtles, the Manzanillo-Barra de Navidad bypass.
“All users are advised to follow the instructions of road personnel to ensure a smooth transition. It is important to check the routes and follow the instructions of road personnel to avoid inconveniences,” said Asipona Manzanillo.
From January to September of this year, the port of Manzanillo has added a total entry of 873,412 units of auto transport , 19% more than in the same period last year, according to statistics from the port authority.
In the same period, the port has accumulated the handling of two million 911 thousand 798 20-foot containers (TEU) , 6.7% more than in the same cycle in 2023.
