PUNTA MITA, NAY. – Stellantis seeks new objectives in the Mexican market, strengthening the professional vehicle segment. In this sense, it recently reconfigured its distribution network according to the needs of its customers, explained Carlos Quezada, president and CEO of Stellantis México.
The manager pointed out that the company wants to get the maximum potential out of each of its brands, which is why starting last year they made an important structural change focused on their customers, creating a dealer network 100% focused on Jeep ; a second distribution network focused on mainstream vehicles with entry and mid-range segments of cars and SUVs with the Fiat, Dodge and Peugeot brands; and, finally, a distribution network focused 100% on professional vehicles.
“We saw a great opportunity in professional vehicles with RAM and Peugeot, because professional vehicles move the world, so we saw an opportunity in creating a network dedicated 100% to this segment,” explained Carlos Quezada.
This is why he announced that he would dedicate the RAM brand to pickups, seeking to have a pickup in each segment; while Peugeot will be focused on entry-level, medium-sized and full-size vans.
RAM 1200
The company presented the new RAM 1200 this Wednesday; medium pickup that seeks to satisfy the needs of its customers at work, with Mexico being the first country to have this model.
Carlos Quezada explained that Stellantis had an important gap in the medium pickup and heavy truck segment for several years, a segment with a lot of potential that represents around 5% of the market.
“We want to be close to customers. By having a network 100% in professional vehicles we can give them convenience, we will be in more than 128 points of sale with a portfolio, financial services and processes dedicated to these clients who use vehicles for day-to-day work,” said Quezada. .
For this reason, Mexico is one of RAM’s priorities, which is why it incorporates work and dual-purpose trucks to adapt to the needs of its customers.
The RAM 1200 will be available with manual and automatic transmission; in regular cab and crew cab versions, to transport up to five passengers.
With a 2.4 L turbo engine, 210 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, the pickup has a load capacity of 1,200 kilos and a towing capacity of three thousand kilos.
