The company doesn’t sell directly; it’s its network of distributors who understand the customer’s specific needs, select the appropriate devices, and configure the entire system , explained Denis Grebennikov, Vice President of Business Development at Wialon, to T21.
The platform is hardware-agnostic , allowing users to work with more than 3,800 already integrated telematics devices. This flexibility became a key factor in operating in a region where security represents one of the most complex challenges.
“The most serious problems here in Mexico, as in almost all of Latin America, are security. People security, cargo security, vehicle security, driver security,” Grebennikov explained.
Security concerns are no small issue. Between January and May 2025 alone , the theft of cargo units stopped en route accounted for 35% of all incidents recorded nationwide, according to Overhaul data .
Sixty -five percent of these robberies occurred in high-risk areas such as hookah lounges or sites linked to fuel theft, and more than 78% occurred at night or early in the morning, between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m.
In this context, the ability to detect unusual patterns, send alerts, or even remotely stop the engine , as the Wialon platform allows, makes sense beyond technology.
Through its partners, Wialon offers tools ranging from stolen vehicle trackingto video systems that identify risky behaviors, such as operator fatigue or unauthorized door opening.
Globally, the company has more than 2,600 partners in over 150 countriesand an installed base of 4.2 million connected vehicles.
In addition, it promotes a collaborative ecosystem among its distributors, where sharing experiences and solutions is part of daily operations.
“We have chats where a member in Africa can resolve a question from another member in Latin America. That strengthens the entire community,” Grebennikov said.
This year, Wialon is preparing an international open event: the Telematics and Connected Mobility Conference , which will take place in September in Vilnius, Lithuania. The goal, beyond the brand, will be to bring together industry players—manufacturers, developers, and end users—to discuss the evolution of connected mobility.
