These are the maximum rates for the rail transport of chemical and petrochemical products

The rates have been in effect since last March and are applied by Ferromex, Ferrosur, and CPKC of Mexico.

The Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF) published, once again, the maximum rates for Ferromex , Ferrosur and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) of Mexico for origin-destination routes for the transportation of chlorine, ethylene oxide, anhydrous ammonia and caustic soda .

This was due to the lack of effective competition conditions on these routes, as detected by the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) in 2020.

In response, the ARTF reported that, in exercising its powers under the Railway Service Regulatory Law and the Railway Service Regulations, it published the updated maximum regulated fares for 2025.

In the case of Ferromex , the rates are:

Chlorine: Lechería-El Castillo, 0.468365 pesos per ton/kilometer (ton/km).

Chlorine: El Castillo–Celaya, 0.506738 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: Dairy–Irapuato, 0.526718 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: Dairy-La Junta, 0.514473 pesos per ton/km.

Anhydrous ammonia: Lechería–Victoria, 1.014758 pesos per ton/km.

Anhydrous ammonia: Lechería–Torreón, 0.479345 pesos per ton/km.

Anhydrous ammonia: Piedras Negra-Torreón, 0.544407 pesos per ton/km.

Caustic soda: Lechería-El Castillo, 0.310414 pesos per ton/km.

For Ferrosur , the prices are as follows:

Chlorine: Lng. Agustín Lira–Acocotla, 0.635455 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: Lng. Agustín Lira–Carmela, 0.625954 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: Lng. Agustín Lira-Melchor Ocampo, 0.649643 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: lng: Agustín Lira–Tochac, 0.642798 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: Lng. Agustín Lira–Lechería, 0.617326 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: lng. Agustín Lira–Ecatepec, 0.747730 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: lng. Agustín Lira–Coatzacoalcos, 4.526610 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: lng. Agustín Lira–Tochac, 0.779064 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: lng. Agustín Lira–Xalostoc, 0.730637 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: lng. Agustín Lira–Lechería, 0.743733 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: Coatzacoalcos–Lechería, 0.747730 pesos per ton/km.

Anhydrous ammonia: Guanomex–Lechería, 0.811601 pesos per ton/km.

Caustic soda: lng. Agustín Lira-Lechería, 0.457069 pesos per ton/km.

For CPKC of Mexico the rates are:

Chlorine: Lechería-Morelia, 0.450532 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: Lechería-Nuevo Laredo, 0.437509 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: Lechería-Rosita, 0.436606 pesos per ton/km.

Chlorine: Celaya-Rosita, 0.438546 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: Lechería-Maclovio Herrera, 0.470895 pesos per ton/km.

Ethylene oxide: Dairy-Doña Rosa, 0.470895 pesos per ton/km.

The dealers specified that these rates came into effect last March .

It’s worth remembering that in 2020, Cofece (National Commission for the Promotion of Transport and Transport of Chemicals and Petrochemicals) issued a declaration of lack of competition on 20 rail freight routesoriginating in southern Veracruz. In this regard, it stated that the ARTF may, if deemed necessary, determine service rates or establish new rights of way for these routes, which have been concessioned to CPKC de México and Grupo México .
