The export and production of light vehicles in Mexico grew by 10.7% and 5.2%, respectively, in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2023, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) .
According to the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (RAIAVL), during said period, one million 721 thousand 852 units were exported , 165 thousand 962 more than in the compared period.
Likewise, the production of light vehicles increased by 5.2% year-on-year , going from one million 896 thousand 833 to one million 996 thousand 136 units.
The highest growth was for Volkswagen with 29.9%, followed by Honda with 24.6% and Ford Motor with 13.6 percent. While the biggest drop was for Toyota with 27% and Audi with 26.9 percent.
Light trucks represented 75.5% of the total produced , while the rest corresponded to automobile manufacturing.
Regarding sales, Inegi mentioned that these increased by 11.9%, because the first semester ended with 708,650 light vehicles sold, 75,563 more than in the same period last year.
