Other brands such as KIA with 7.2% and Mazda with 6.5% also performed well in vehicle sales in the first month of 2025.
Meanwhile, Asian firms showed variable performance . In this sense, the Chinese Chirey had a drop of 27.6% , reporting 1,883 units sold against the 2,600 sold in the same month of 2024.
Japanese Honda also had a decrease in vehicle placement in January 2025, which was 0.7% , with 3,436 cars against 3,460 sold in January 2024.
Jetour sold 142 units in the first month of this year , which meant a decrease of 43% compared to the 249 vehicles sold in January 2024.
According to Inegi data, the Mexican automotive industry is making progress in its recovery. In 2024 alone, sales of light vehicles in Mexico totaled 1,496,806 units , which meant an increase of 9.8% compared to 2023, which represented the highest volume recorded by the industry since 2018.
According to AMDA, considering an optimistic outlook, it is expected that 1,527,550 vehicles will be sold in Mexico this year ; on the other hand, in a negative outlook, the sale of 1,474,403 units is estimated .
Although they have been paused for now, the threat of imposition of tariffs by the United States on Mexican products would have serious consequences for the Mexican automotive sector , since it would be one of the industries affected if such a measure were to be carried out.
