
Activity in the transportation, mail, and storage sectors stood at 115.2 points in May 2025, representing a 0.1% increase compared to last April, according to the Global Economic Activity Indicator (IGAE) , prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) .
On an annual basis, Mexico’s logistics industry also performed strongly, registering a 1.3% increase in activity, seasonally adjusted.
In the fifth month of the year, the IGAE remained unchanged monthly, while at an annual rate it grew 0.4%, according to INEGI.

By component, primary activities , which include agriculture and livestock, increased 3.6%; while secondary activities , which include manufacturing and construction, grew 0.6% monthly.
In turn, tertiary activities , which involve the services sector, decreased 0.4% in May 2025 compared to last April.
On an annual basis, primary activities increased by 5.4%, tertiary activities fell by 0.6%, and secondary activities decreased by 0.4%.
According to analysts, economic activity in Mexico faces various risks associated with inflation, which could weaken domestic consumption and cause a slowdown in some productive sectors, such as construction and manufacturing.
According to INEGI, the IGAE allows for understanding and monitoring the short-term evolution of the real sector of the economy.
