European configurations continue to gain ground in the Mexican freight market . Now, in addition to tractor-trailers, the focus is also extending to urban operations and vocational applications, segments where technology, safety, and operational efficiency are becoming increasingly important in purchasing decisions.
In that context, Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos presented the DAF CF and DAF XB models to clients and partners in the transport sector , in a technical session where specialists showcased operational capabilities, safety systems and connectivity tools integrated into both platforms.
Alberto Ramírez, a member of the technical support department at Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos, explained that DAF originated in Holland in 1928 and is currently part of PACCAR , a group that also includes Kenworth and Peterbilt .
During the presentation, he pointed out that cab-over-engine (COE) units have a strong international presence. “It’s the best-selling product worldwide, even surpassing the conventional product,” he commented, referring to this type of configuration.
The technical presentation showcased two distinct approaches within the DAF range. On the one hand, the CF model was presented as a unit focused on the vocational segment and heavy-duty applications .

Juan Antonio del Ángel, also from the technical support area, explained that this unit integrates a 10.8-liter PACCAR MX-11 Euro 5 engine, with 410 horsepower and a 12-speed ZF Traxon automated transmission.
The specialist explained that the model is geared towards applications such as mixers , roll-off trucks , and other specialized configurations depending on the customer’s needs. He added that Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos can make specific modifications and configurations while maintaining the factory warranty .
The vehicle features front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, and an automated transmission that can operate in automatic, eco, or manual modes. It also includes driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and hill start assist.
Meanwhile, the DAF XB was showcased as a platform geared towards local deliveries and urban operations . According to Juan Antonio del Ángel, this unit was previously sold in Mexico under the Kenworth 45 and 55 license plates, although it is now presented directly as a DAF.

The model is equipped with a 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-7 engine with Euro 6 technology , 280 horsepower, and an eight-speed automatic transmission focused on fuel efficiency. It also features disc brakes on all axles and air suspension.
During the technical tour, attendees were able to learn about some of the safety systems integrated into the unit, including blind spot radars, lane departure alerts, collision mitigation and a reversing camera.
Ramírez explained that the collision mitigation system begins collecting information up to 150 meters ahead to calculate distance, speed, and potential impact risks. Depending on the situation, the vehicle can reduce acceleration, activate auxiliary brakes, or even autonomously apply service brakes.
Another highlight was PACCAR Connect, a telemetry platform integrated as standard equipment on the vehicles for the first three years.
According to Ramírez, this tool allows monitoring of fault codes, fuel consumption, idling, speed, location and driving habits, as well as generating alerts related to speeding, idling or possible safety events.
The presentation also served to reinforce the after-sales support behind the brand. Ramírez assured that DAF’s service, parts, and roadside assistance network operates under the same infrastructure as Kenworth dealerships in Mexico .
“All the support you already know from the Kenworth dealer network is the same service and parts network you will have with DAF,” he stated.
With the presentation of the CF and XB models, Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos showcased part of the strategy with which DAF seeks to strengthen its presence in segments such as urban delivery and vocational applications in Mexico, relying on Kenworth’s nationwide support, service and after-sales network.
