
Industrial activity in Mexico registered a slowdown in 18 states in June 2025, while the remaining 14 showed better performance, with Nayarit, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas standing out, with 6.9%, 5% and 2.9% monthly increases, respectively, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) .
According to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by State (IMAIEF) , which provides information on the performance of industrial activity in the states, Querétaro, the State of Mexico, Sonora, and Colima also excelled in their industries during the period.
Meanwhile, the states that reported the largest declines last June compared to May 2025 were Quintana Roo with 21.8%, Chiapas with 8.4%, and Campeche with 6.1%.
In its annual measurement, the states where industrial activity showed the greatest growth were Nayarit, Baja California Sur, and Michoacán, with 21.4%, 21.2%, and 20.6%, respectively, in the sixth month of the year.
On the other hand, the states that showed the greatest decline in industrial activity on an annual basis were Quintana Roo (50.5%), Campeche (17.3%), and Durango (17%).

Performance by sectors
In June 2025, manufacturing industries showed significant annual growth in Tabasco, Michoacán, Hidalgo, Chiapas, and San Luis Potosí.
In construction , the largest increases occurred in Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Mexico City, Jalisco, Sinaloa and Coahuila.
The mining sector registered increases in Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Chiapas, Jalisco, Colima, and Veracruz.
In the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electric power, water supply and natural gas supply through pipelines to the final consumer , the increases stood out in Nayarit, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Michoacán, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato and Guerrero.
It’s worth remembering that the Monthly Industrial Activity Indicator (IMAI) fell 0.1% in the sixth month of the year on a monthly basis. In its annual measurement, the IMAI also decreased, falling 0.8% , reflecting a decline in industrial activity in the country.
Industrial performance in some Mexican states has shown progress, although the country faces a complex economic situation stemming from global tariff uncertainty.
