Hutchison Ports reported that the fire that broke out on August 30 at the ICAVE container terminal in the port of Veracruz was brought under control without any injuries.
The fire, the company explained, was caused by substances that reacted inside a container during its loading inspection.
“This reaction caused other containers in the vicinity to react as well and life protection protocols were immediately activated,” he said.
At that moment, authorities and firefighters arrived and the terminal’s security procedures were activated to take control of the fire.
By the end of July 2024, the ICAVE container terminal had handled 663,160 20-foot containers (TEU) , 7.5% more than in the same period in 2023, according to data from the National Port System Administration (Asipona) Veracruz .
