As a result of an increase in the purchase of products of foreign origin, private consumption registered an increase of 0.8% in June 2025 compared to last May, according to data from the Monthly Private Consumption Indicator (IMCP) , carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) .
This increase reflected the positive trend in household spending on goods and services , despite changes in U.S. tariff policy. It also marked the third monthly increase in this indicator this year.
In the reference month, the IMCP remained at 111.5 points. Meanwhile, in its annual comparison, private consumption increased 1.1% in the sixth month of 2025.
According to seasonally adjusted monthly figures, consumption of domestic goods and services remained unchanged. Goods increased by 0.3%, while services decreased by 0.1%. Regarding imported goods , consumption increased by 4.9% in June of this year compared to the previous month.
In its annual measurement, spending on domestic goods and services grew 0.5 percent, while spending on imported goods increased 4.4 percent.
Estimates from institutions such as BBVA indicate that private spending stagnated in June due to a slower pace of the services sector.
The Monthly Private Consumption Indicator provides an overview of household spending on consumer goods and services, both domestic and imported, according to INEGI.
