With the goal of strengthening sustainable growth and innovation in Mexico, the materials science company Dow has appointed Aylin Tame as the new general manager of Dow Mexico .
“This is led by Carolina Mantilla, current global marketing director, who also assumed the role of president of the Dow North Latin America Region, succeeding Verónica Pérez, who led the region since 2020,” the firm said in a statement.
Aylin Tame holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and an MBA from the same institution. She joined Dow in 2008 and has held various roles throughout her career.
“She is distinguished by her inclusive leadership, her drive for global citizenship and shared value initiatives around science, sustainability, and inclusive communities, and her work to advance Dow’s key role in Mexico as a catalyst for diverse industries through materials science, innovation, and collaboration,” the company highlighted.
Tame previously served as commercial director of the polyurethanes business in Mexico, and in collaboration with Mantilla, Aylin will lead the company’s operations and strategic projects in the country in her new position.
“His focus will be on driving Dow’s growth in the country, focused on sustainability and customer-centricity,” the firm stated.
Aylin Tame highlighted the challenges and opportunities the company faces in continuing its consolidation.
“In recent years, we have made significant progress toward our ambitions for Mexico. I am excited about the opportunity to lead this exceptional team. We undoubtedly face challenges ahead, but also unique opportunities for the country’s transformation and growth,” she said of her new role.
Dow operates manufacturing sites in 30 countries and employs approximately 36,000 people . Its sales are expected to reach nearly $43 billion in 2024 .
In Mexico, the company’s headquarters are in Mexico City and it has plants in Tlaxcala (polyurethane systems), Querétaro (acrylic emulsions and polyacrylates), and the State of Mexico (laminating adhesives).
