BAIC Trucks , a division of automotive conglomerate BAIC Group , said on Monday that it has begun operations in Mexico through an exclusivity agreement with Grupo GET , in order to strengthen the supply of heavy vehicles in the country, with technological innovation and a focus on the profitability of local transporters, according to a joint press release.
The alliance between both companies brings to Mexico the Nextar X9 , a flagship tractor-trailer that incorporates a Cummins X13 engine with Euro VI technology, ZF AT transmission and its own axles, designed to maximize efficiency and safety on national routes.
In this regard, Adán Palomeque, CEO of Grupo GET, announced that this model includes an artificial intelligence system that improves driving through continuous learning, alerting about possible risks and optimizing fuel efficiency and overall performance.
For its part, BAIC Trucks Mexico will initially focus on the double trailer configuration , seeking to offer options that adapt to the needs of the transportation sector in the country.
In this context, Abelardo Ruiz, a specialist in the heavy vehicle industry, was appointed as general director of the Mexican subsidiary , and stressed that the company will work closely with transporters to provide after-sales solutions and technical support.
The companies also reported that BAIC Trucks Mexico’s expansion plan includes the opening of service centers in key cities such as Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz.
Likewise, Grupo GET made an initial investment of 100 million pesos (mdp) in spare parts , in addition to guaranteeing the continuous training of its technicians to ensure an efficient maintenance service.
The Nextar X9 is expected to be available for sale in the first quarter of 2025, offering a robust and technologically advanced solution for the Mexican market, reinforcing Grupo GET’s strategy of offering quality and high-performance products in the tractor-trailer sector.
