The Mexican Association of Shipping Agents (Amanac) appointed Roberto M. Meillón Covarrubias as president of the National Board of Directors for the period 2026-2028, during its Ordinary General Assembly, in a process that was carried out with broad consensus among its members and in accordance with the current statutes of the organization.

The election was conducted according to established procedures for the formation of its governing body, in a session that also formally marked the end of Fernando Con y Ledesma’s term as head of the association. As part of the assembly’s agenda, the results of the outgoing administration were presented, highlighting institutional progress in academic matters, international representation, and sectoral positioning.

Among the main achievements were obtaining the Official Recognition of Validity of Studies (RVOE) for the creation of the Amanac Academic Institute , as well as opening the Mexican office of the Inter-American Confederation of Associations of Shipping and Maritime Agents (CIANAM) . In addition, the organization received the “Made in Mexico” seal, awarded by the Ministry of Economy, as part of a strategy to strengthen its institutional identity.

The transition process was led by the association’s general management, adhering to internal guidelines and ensuring the organization’s operational continuity. With this change in leadership, the association transitions to a new administration that will build upon the progress achieved during the previous period.

Meillón Covarrubias has over 35 years of experience in the maritime-port and foreign trade sector, with a background in companies such as Grupo Navieros, Navieros y Consignaciones, Internaves de México, and Soluciones Manzanillo Pacífico, where he has held management positions. His academic background includes studies in Political Science and Public Administration from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, as well as a specialization in foreign trade.

The association plays a significant role within the national logistics system , representing the majority of shipping lines operating in the country’s ports, as well as shipping agents involved in maritime foreign trade. This scope positions its National Board of Directors as a key forum for collaboration between the industry and the relevant authorities.
