
Mota-Engil will build and design 68 kilometers (km) of section I of the Querétaro–Saltillo passenger train , Querétaro–San Luis Potosí section, Querétaro–San Miguel de Allende subsection, chainage from km 0+000 to km 68+000.
In addition, it will be responsible for the construction of viaducts, stations, tunnels, bridges, railway underpasses, railway overpasses and pedestrian bridges.
According to the tender award documents published by the Agency for Trains and Integrated Public Transport (ATTRAPI) , the consortium headed by Mota-Engil Mexico, Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção and Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção Africa was awarded a contract for 22 billion 407 million 721 thousand 317.66 pesos .
The following participated in this competition: Arturo Hernández González, the consortium Constructora de Proyectos Viales de México, Obrascon Huarte Lain (OHL) and CAABSA Constructora .
As well as Omega Industrial Constructions , Omega Corp., Gallo Meda Construction, and Broad Services of Mexico.
ATTRAPI specified that the winning consortium will sign the contract on October 16 .
“The start date for the work will be from October 17th, with an execution period of 973 calendar days,” the agency indicated.
According to ATTRAPI, the tender includes the construction of a railway line, which includes the necessary studies for the preparation and authorization of the executive project , and subsequently the development of the construction work will be carried out.
“The project is designed to operate at speeds of up to 177 kilometers per hour (km/h). Furthermore, its route has been carefully planned to minimize environmental and social impacts, making extensive use of existing rights-of-way and complying with the urban development regulations of each municipality,” he explained.
The Querétaro-San Luis Potosí rail connection will promote the attraction of investments in the commercial, industrial and social sectors, in addition to contributing to the reduction of travel times and the mitigation of polluting emissions.
