In August 2026, the Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI), based on the results of the National Survey on Consumer Confidence (ENCO), stood at 46.1 units , which implied an increase of 1 point compared to last July, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) and the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) .
In its year-on-year comparison and with seasonally adjusted figures, the ICC remained unchanged in the eighth month of the year.
On a monthly basis, all five components of this indicator showed increases, while on an annual basis only two registered declines.
During August, the component that measures the current economic situation of household members compared to what it was 12 months ago saw the largest increase, rising by 1.9 points per month.
The expected economic situation of household members in 12 months, compared to the present, increased by 1.6 points month-on-month. The current ability of household members to purchase furniture, televisions, washing machines, and other items, compared to a year ago, increased by 1.1 points month-on-month.
Meanwhile, the country’s current economic situation, compared to 12 months ago, registered an increase of 0.7 points month-on-month. In turn, the expected economic situation of the country in 12 months, compared to the current situation, rose 0.1 points month-on-month.
On an annual basis, the component with the greatest growth was the current economic situation of household members compared to what it was 12 months ago, which rose by 2.2 points.
The one that fell the most was the expected economic situation of the country in 12 months compared to the current one, with a decline of 2.2 units per year.

According to the ICC results, although the monthly increase showed positive behavior, the annual balance shows stagnation compared to August 2025 , indicating that citizen optimism remains below last year’s level.
The monthly increase in August 2026 reflects a respite in economic perception , with improvements in expectations regarding households’ economic capacity, but with an annual decrease in the view of the economic future and the current situation of the country, indicating that caution persists ; this could influence the consumption and savings decisions of Mexicans.
According to Inegi, the National Consumer Confidence Survey provides statistical information on how satisfied citizens are with their economic situation, that of their family and that of the country, as well as how changes in social welfare, development and other variables are perceived over time.
