Motive announced the launch of the AI Dashcam Plus, a camera that combines multiple functions into a single device and incorporates edge AI processing to detect hazards in real time and prevent collisions. It is equipped with the Qualcomm Dragonwing QCS6490 processor, capable of simultaneously running more than 30 AI models.
“Organizations need AI-powered driver safety solutions that can perceive and respond in real time. We’ve taken what used to be two devices and added three times the computing power, created the first stereo vision camera, and added hands-free communication—all in one system so companies can detect more risks and act faster. This isn’t just a new product; it reflects a shift toward proactive, AI-driven road safety,” said Shoaib Makani, co-founder and CEO of Motive.
In Mexico, more than 374,000 traffic accidents were recorded in 2024 , according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) . Driver fatigue and speeding were identified as recurring factors . Given the limitations of traditional safety systems in detecting and responding to risks, Motive proposed a device that integrates dual stereo vision and two-way communication into a single unit.
Erick Hong, head of Smart Home & Life at Qualcomm Technologies , highlighted that thanks to the AI integrated into the device, road safety can be improved.

The device has various functionalities such as stereo vision for depth perception , which consists of two lenses synchronized towards the road to create a human-like depth perception; automatic license plate recognition , which allows capturing clear license plates even in motion, at long distances or in bad weather; and fusion of video, audio, telematics and GPS sensors , which allows identifying complex events such as robberies.
The AI Dashcam Plus also includes live two-way calling , allowing operators to instantly connect with their managers via voice control; a voice assistant , which allows operators to check their remaining driving time and find the nearest gas station; and AI automations , which support them in addressing urgent issues.
The device also features a unified design that reduces installation time and enables more reliable video uploads ; its Android-based architecture allows for remote AI model updates, and its dual-SIM connectivity ensures continuous tracking.
Since 2023, Motive’s AI Dashcam has helped prevent more than 170,000 accidents and save approximately 1,500 lives . A study by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute showed that the camera alerted drivers to unsafe behaviors two to four times more often than competing models. Customers reported an 80% reduction in collisions and a 63% reduction in accident-related costs.
