
Foton ‘s strategy in Mexico focuses on two operational fronts: consolidating its dealer network and completing the installation of its national spare parts warehouse, said Sergio Chavarría , corporate director of Aftersales at LDR Solutions , the company that manages the Chinese brand in the country.
The goal is for customers to perceive no difference between an imported product and one manufactured locally, but rather to receive service with a warranty, available parts, and trained personnel, Chavarría explained in an interview with T21.
They are currently providing their network with established and certified technical processes, as well as facilities ready to service the units.
Added to this is the support for partner workshops throughout Mexico, as part of the service ecosystem for Foton brand vehicles.
The brand’s spare parts warehouse , located in Querétaro, covers more than 11 thousand square meters (m2) and concentrates more than 500 thousand parts , equivalent to approximately 35 thousand part numbers .
Although the company has a sufficient inventory of spare parts, they are perfecting their operation every day.
“We have enough spare parts, but we need to make them available and, above all, make it easy to collect them and distribute them to our business partners,” Chavarría said.
He added that they have been preparing for over two years to have one of the best warehouses nationwide, in response to the perception that exists around Chinese brands regarding the lack of availability in after-sales service .
Part of the challenge is adapting the so-called “Chinese DNA” to the Mexican market, an environment where European technical standards, American operational influences, and a customer base that demands immediate results converge.
“Here we need to consolidate, unify, and understand, so that the customer feels they’re buying something reliable, with a guarantee, and from people who understand them,” he explained.
According to Chavarría, for Foton, the sale is just the beginning. What really makes the difference is the technical support, the availability of spare parts, and a network prepared to keep the units operating smoothly.
