Fruehauf took a firm step in that direction by obtaining Utility Model Title No. 5702 from the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) , which officially recognizes its invention “H-type semi-trailer to fifth-wheel trailer converter,” known in the sector as the H-type Dolly .
Behind this development is more than a patent: Mexican engineering applied to the daily challenge of moving goods efficiently, safely, and flexibly.
Classified under the B62B1/18 standard , this converter allows a semi-trailer to be transformed into a type H fifth-wheel trailer, which represents a useful solution for operations that require versatility on the road without compromising the stability of the vehicle assembly.
“Market demands are not met with rhetoric, but with solutions,” said Miguel Martínez, the company’s general manager, who explained that these types of developments respond to the practical needs of modern transportation.
For Mares, the recognition isn’t just institutional. “It’s a sign that national engineering can compete, create, and transform. Investing in internal development also means investing in the industry,” he said.
Beyond the title, what is recognized is the ability to think differently within a sector that demands constant adaptation. The Dolly Type H is not just a new component; it’s an example of how technical improvement can open up new routes for land transport.
