Logistics not only involves products but also sound equipment for concerts. Thus, artists from Coldplay, Peso Pluma, Skakira, and many others have been transported by Jaguar Transportation Services , which for more than three years has been dedicated to this essential aspect for both national and international artists who come to perform in Mexico.
Reynaldo C. Gómez Leyja, the company’s president and CEO, explained that the company transports artists’ equipment between the cities where they will be performing, as was the case with Shakira, who performed in Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City. However, they also transport equipment to other destinations abroad.
He explained that one of the main aspects that celebrity logistics representatives look for is the capacity in terms of units and personnel, as well as experience in this type of process.
“The company that works hand in hand with artists to ensure they meet their dates is securing a series of services for their concerts, so it’s important to have the equipment and drivers in excellent condition to provide the number of trailers and tractors they’re requesting to transport their equipment to their shows,” he explained in an interview with T21.
He mentioned only that in Shakira’s case there were 24 trucks, something similar for performances by Coldplay or Paul McCartney.
The first contact is through the artist’s logistics representatives. Jaguar Transportation Services thus knows the requirements well in advance of the singers’ arrival. Once the equipment arrives by air, the Mexican company then takes action, transporting the vehicles by road to the first city where the concert will take place.
“They assemble (the trucks) like Lego, that’s how I see it; they put everything together from the bottom up. Their logistics team dictates how the trucks are assembled, what arrives first, and what arrives last. Sometimes they request support for unloading to control and coordinate these operations,” he explained.
Gómez Leyja indicated that some artists request information from drivers to ensure greater safety during transportation. “We’ve developed our people to the point where we provide them with training, making them part of the Jaguar family,” he stated.
He explained that it’s a comprehensive service, as in addition to transporting the units to the next cities where they will perform, they also transport the equipment to the designated airport to continue their tours in other countries.
“(Concert logistics) is very important. This began during the pandemic, with two years of uncertainty where events were canceled and health measures restricted any gathering of people. When everything reconnects, there’s an upward path and the singers begin their tours, and that allows us to grow with those dates and with our partners so they continue to choose us to move their equipment,” he stated.
He asserted that this type of service requires “extreme dedication and involvement with the artists’ logistics team to ensure they arrive on time and in the correct manner.”
Shak, shak, Shakira
Shakira completed the first leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Mexico this Sunday, March 30, with seven concerts at the GNP Forum in Mexico City, following her performances in Monterrey and Guadalajara, all to sold-out crowds and thousands of fans devoted to the Colombian singer, who confirmed she will return at the end of August of this year.
