The federal government appointed Edgar Abraham Amador Zamora as the new head of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) ,replacing Rogelio Ramírez de la O, who will assume the position of Economic Advisor for International Affairs.
“Edgar is taking over today as Secretary of the Treasury. We have a great team. Mexico has a very strong economy, we have excellent collaborators and we are going to do very well,” said Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico.
Amador Zamora commented that they are committed to the economic stability of the country that was established in the Economic Package for 2025 and beyond.
“We are committed to the financial stability of our currency and macroeconomic stability so that the country’s economy grows on solid foundations and the objectives of the Fourth Transformation are confirmed and met,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sheinbaum said that Ramírez de la O’s new position is essential given the current relationship with the United States.
“When I invited Rogelio and told him that he would stay because he was secretary under former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he told me that he would accompany me until December and he stayed until February. He will continue to help us with this new task that he will have,” he explained.
Edgar Abraham Amador Zamora holds a degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Colegio de México.
In the private sector he worked at Vector Casa de Bolsa , Stone & McCarthy for Mexico and Brazil, and was deputy general director for Mexico at the French bank Dexia.
He has been an advisor to the governorship at the Bank of Mexico and since October 1, 2024, as Undersecretary of Finance and Public Credit.
