In 2024, the heavy vehicle industry in Mexico reached historic highs, where the tractor-trailer segment was key in the total numbers. Based on figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) , the tractor-trailer market last year totaled 27,096 retail units and 31,171 wholesale units.
The figures obtained by the tractor-trailer market in 2024 represented an increase of 14.9% compared to 2023 in retail and 29% in wholesale, this from the records in 2023 when an advance of 47.3% and 49.9% had already been shown, respectively.
In this context, which tractor-trailer brands led the industry?
In 2024, Kenworth remained the leader in this segment, both wholesale and retail. In fact, with Inegi data, it can be seen that it has held that position since 2019, only giving up the leadership position in 2018 in the retail market.
In 2024, Kenworth achieved a 42% retail market share, after experiencing an 18.8% sales increase. Wholesale growth was 24.8% in the reference cycle, with a 37.8% share.
Freightliner remains consistent in second place, with a 29.7% retail market share for tractor-trailers in 2024 , while wholesale was at 31.7 percent.
In 2024 , Kenworth, Freightliner, International and Scania accounted for 95.6% of retail tractor-trailer sales and 94.7% of wholesale sales.
