The Industrial Employment Training Center (CECATI) in Tijuana was the scene of the third graduation of the “Women at the Wheel” program , an initiative for labor inclusion in the transportation sector of Baja California.
This event seeks to encourage female participation in a sector historically dominated by men . Women were trained to operate public and private transport through an intensive course covering safe driving, basic maintenance and customer service.
In this regard, Miguel Huerta, director of SETTEPI in Tijuana, highlighted the company’s commitment to labor inclusion.
“We are convinced that a more inclusive industry is not only fairer, but also more efficient and representative of our society,” Huerta said.
She explained that as a strategic partner, SETTEPI plays a fundamental role in the design and implementation of the program, in addition to committing to hiring and facilitating the job placement of graduates.
Of the 17 participants in this generation, more than 80% have already received job offers from various routes and transportation companies in Baja California.
Local authorities also assured that the “ Women at the Wheel ” program is being replicated in other entities of the country, positioning Baja California as a benchmark in female empowerment policies and transformation of the transportation sector.
