The National Council of Logistics and Supply Chain Executives (ConaLog) signed a collaboration agreement with the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla (UPAEP) , thereby continuing its objective of contributing to the logistics community through synergies with The academy.
Sandra Aragonez, president of ConaLog, assured in an interview for T21 that these types of synergies are fundamental for the continuous improvement of the industry , however, it is one of the largest areas of opportunity in the country.
“Why do I have to be looking for a closed logistical problem if maybe if I open the panorama with a teacher, with a student, we will find solutions that we had not seen. The signing of this agreement is a first step that must be reflected in concrete actions,” he said.
In this sense, he pointed out that this agreement with UPAEP will allow the creation of a seedbed of talents as one of the main pillars, since, among other benefits, students will be able to validate their social service with ConaLog, having direct access to counselors and will be able to get involved in the supply chain and logistics from the first semesters of his career.
In this sense, Ana María Carcaño, Academic Director, Business Logistics and Commerce and International Strategy Program at UPAEP, pointed out that students will be able to benefit from this contact with the industry , experiencing logistics through professional practices to be included in the Laboral life.
In addition, he highlighted that this will also allow the creation of a council of members on the design of study plans, activities and continuing education courses.
“We want to know what they need from the students who are about to graduate so that we academics can prepare them with those characteristics that they require. We want to form that bridge so that students can contribute and not wait for the company to train them and they already arrive with these skills,” she said in an interview.
On the other hand, Sandra Aragonez indicated that ConaLog associates will also be able to benefit from the agreement, since they will be able to develop knowledge, practices and innovation with the university’s programs.
“We assume that because we are already in logistics and have a position we no longer need to update, and that is one of the fundamental errors. That UPAEP opens the doors for us to have that update is a benefit,” said Aragonez.
Likewise, the president of ConaLog pointed out that there is a great demand for talent that Mexico is capable of providing, however, some skills still need to be developed, especially in a context in which technology and digitalization in the industry require it, therefore that the connection with the academy makes a difference.
“Any talent that wants to join the world of work has to speak a digital language, that tells you about the TMS that is going to be used, about how a power BI is used or a dashboard that allows decision making, about artificial intelligence. You have to know the functional side of technology, you have to develop it in all generations,” he said.
The first step that the two institutions are preparing to contribute to the industry is a study on relevant sustainability issues, which will be announced later, one of the objectives of the synergy, research to support companies’ decision making .
