PepsiCo México has implemented a distribution network in Mexico made up of more than 18 thousand daily routes to guarantee that products such as Sabritas, Gamesa and Quaker reach consumers throughout the country and strengthen the supply chain, according to a press release from the company.
There he explains that the routes leave from one of the company’s 15 production plants in Mexico to the nearly 300 distribution centers (cedis) from which shipments are coordinated.
For this logistics, cedis are essential, managing the reception, storage and preparation of orders. In addition, these centers are also a source of employment for more than 33,740 people.
Salvador Rosas, director of Supply Chain Planning at PepsiCo Mexico, explained that the company’s supply strategy seeks to meet the demands of both large wholesalers and small neighborhood stores.
“At PepsiCo Mexico we have a planned supply strategy with the purpose of delivering products in a timely manner to our business partners and customers, based in turn on a supply chain that includes self-service stores, points of sale about 70 wholesale clients and close to a million neighborhood stores distributed throughout the country,” said Salvador Rosas.
The system includes service mixing centers (SMC) , which facilitate distribution to cedis. In this sense, the company announced as an example that the SMC in Huejotzingo, Puebla, operational since 2021, has increased service capacity for PepsiCo’s business units.
Additionally, in Obregón, Sonora, another SMC uses automated technology to reduce product preparation and delivery times, thus optimizing operational efficiency.
With this initiative, PepsiCo Mexico seeks to continue adapting its supply chain to meet quality standards and speed in product delivery.
