For the second time, the Santiago Plant of Daimler Truck México received the National Quality Award (PNC) , an award that aims to promote, develop and disseminate the quality of industrial, commercial and service companies in our country, to promote their modernization and competitiveness.
For more than 50 years, this plant has carried out operations based on efficiency and innovation, emphasizing the quality of its products and taking care of the integrity of its collaborators, elements that favored the designation of the PNC, which was delivered to the plant for the first time in 2016. to the 2015 National Quality Award.
During the award ceremony, Jeff Allen, Senior Vice President of Operations and Special Vehicles at Daimler Truck North America, recognized the work carried out by the Santiago Plant and highlighted the commitment to quality and to the transporters who purchase the brand’s vehicles. “I am sure that we will continue to demonstrate operational excellence in our processes,” he explained.
Some of the aspects that were considered by the government of the Republic to grant the award cover topics such as investment, flexibility and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in assemblies . Considering that in the last three years the company has invested more than 30 million dollars in innovation projects for the introduction of the Western Star range of tractor trucks .
Likewise, the company detailed that it has worked on the expansion and optimization of processes that will allow the facility to increase its daily production capacity, thereby extending the flexibility to produce more and new models.
Another factor that was taken into account for the PNC were actions on sustainability issues that range from mapping environmental impacts to waste classification, recycling processes, reuse and minimization of the use of resources within the factory.
“This has yielded both environmental and economic benefits, for example, reduction of hazardous waste of up to 177 kg/unit and in recyclable waste, an increase in savings of $102,904 per year,” Daimler reported.
Currently, the Santiago Plant has more than 3,500 employees. As a representative of all of them, Jorge Verástegui, general manager of the Santiago Plant, thanked the team for materializing the delivery of the PNC 2024.
