Viva Aerobus announced it will connect Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) with Austin and New York , starting in November and December, respectively, and while the latter route will operate for only one month, it will restart in June 2026 for the World Cup.

“AIFA is a key element in our expansion strategy to the United States, becoming an important international connectivity hub for our passengers. These announcements come just in time for the world’s most important sporting event: the 2026 World Cup. At Viva, we are preparing to connect Mexicans with various World Cup venues and to welcome the wave of international tourists who will surely visit our country during this major event,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Grupo Viva Aerobus.

The new route to Austin, Texas, will begin on November 20 and will have three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The route to New York will begin with three weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, initially operating from December 12 to January 11 .

The route will return permanently in early June 2026 , in time to expand Mexico’s connectivity during the World Cup.

“We continue to promote this airport’s international connectivity, tourism, and opportunities for thousands of Mexicans with these new routes,” emphasized Isidoro Pastor, director general of AIFA.

These services will be added to the seven the airline announced last April, which will begin operating in November and will connect AIFA with Los Angeles, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Miami, and Orlando , significantly strengthening the airport’s connectivity with the United States.

Viva Aerobus also announced two new domestic routes from AIFA to Veracruz and Saltillo , which will begin operating in November.

With service to Austin and New York, the airline will have a total of 42 routes operating from AIFA (11 international and 31 domestic) by the end of 2025, up from 29 at the close of last year, representing a 44 percent increase.

“We are excited to continue building our connectivity hub (AIFA), from where by the end of this year, we will fly directly to 42 domestic and international destinations. We remain committed to offering our passengers the best destinations aboard the most modern aircraft, offering them the greatest flexibility and all the benefits of Doters, the loyalty program,” added Javier Suárez, Executive Vice President of Strategy, Planning, and Alliances at Viva.
