Transmontes , a member of Grupo TM ( number 25 in the Top 100 of Autotransporte® ), has maintained a focus on more sustainable transportation, to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint, aware that the transportation sector in Mexico contributes 27% of the Greenhouse Gases (GHG).
On this route, Transmontes added 60 Scania R460 tractor trucks to its fleet, which will result in a 12% improvement in fuel consumption, the manufacturer reported in a statement.
“These vehicles stand out for being among those that generate the least CO2 emissions on the market, thus optimizing the carrier’s operations in Coahuila. The choice of Scania as a supplier responds not only to the reduction of environmental impact, but also to the values shared by both companies,” Scania shared.
This approach is in line with studies by consultancies such as Ernst & Young, which point to the growing impact of responsible consumption and the preference for sustainable products on purchasing decisions. Euromonitor also highlights that one of the main global consumer trends for 2024 is the importance that consumers attach to sustainability initiatives, as well as the analysis of the value chain of the products they purchase.
“We are now seeing that not only the end consumer, but also our B2B customers are integrating these values into their production chains. We seek to make our products as sustainable as our way of doing business, and we continue to move towards the goal of manufacturing only vehicles powered by renewable energy by 2050, in line with our commitment to the Science Based Targets Initiative and other initiatives to reduce polluting emissions,” said Alejandro Mondragón, CEO and president of Scania Mexico.
Scania recognises that transport is responsible for between 12% and 14% of global CO2 emissions, but it must also be part of the solution. The company focuses on three key pillars to achieve this: energy efficiency, electrification and alternative fuels, and smart and safe transport.
Responsible indicators
With this second delivery, Scania trucks represent approximately 40% of Transmontes’ total fleet, which has 300 units. In 2023, the company had already acquired a first batch of 60 vehicles.
“We imagine a future in the north of the country with technologies that contribute to caring for the environment. Our suppliers’ processes are also part of our value chain. That is why it was key to have Scania’s maintenance policy in this purchase, which ensures that the vehicles operate efficiently and sustainably,” said Noé Montes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo TM, who highlighted that the outstanding performance of these trucks is combined with the principles and values that align the environmental vision of both companies.
These alliances reinforce the commitment of both brands to the environment and the transportation industry, generating a win-win relationship based on shared values and a responsible and sustainable business model.
This version maintains the focus on the strategic alliance, sustainability, and shared expectations between both companies, highlighting the delivery of the trucks and the positive impact on the operation and the environment.
