A new interactive platform titled “World Trade Statistics 2023, Key Data and Trends” was launched by the World Trade Organization (WTO) , a digital tool that offers a comprehensive view of the latest data and trends in international merchandise trade. and commercial services during the year 2023.
The WTO reported through its portal that the tool is designed to allow users to explore the latest trade trends , both in terms of value and volume.
The platform offers a wide range of functionality , including the ability to filter and view data by economy, region, country groups, product groups and service sectors.
Although currently only available in English , the tool stands out for its ability to display time series of statistics on trade in goods and services, market access indicators, and other relevant economic indicators.
This makes the portal a useful resource for academics, analysts and policy makers. In addition, the WTO has introduced a new version of the multilateral trade negotiations (MTN) categories . These categories are used to interpret trade trends and analyze policy measures, such as tariffs.
The 2023 version features a revised two-tier structure that includes 22 MTN categories and 72 additional subcategories, thus providing more detailed analysis. This update, available for download, provides common terminology for evaluating business trends and measures.
This new data visualization dashboard allows users to graphically access selected data sets from the WTO Portal, covering areas such as trade in goods, trade in commercial services and market access .
