During August 2025, sales of heavy vehicles in Mexico contracted significantly , with declines in virtually all segments, according to the Statistical Bulletin of the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Producers (ANPACT) .
In wholesale sales , 2,348 units were sold , a 62.5% drop compared to the 6,261 in August 2024. In the cumulative January-August period, the figure rose to 18,651 vehicles , also below the 38,949 units in the same period of the previous year, that is, a negative variation of 52.1 percent.
By segment, freight accounted for the majority of wholesale sales, with 1,943 units , but represented a 64.9% drop compared to the same month last year. Within this segment, fifth-wheel tractors contributed 872 units, albeit a 72.1% decline .
In passenger transport , 405 units were sold wholesale , a figure lower than the 718 sold last year, which represented a drop of 43.6 percent.

In the retail channel , sales also reflected a slowdown. In August, 3,171 units were sold , a 40.6% decrease compared to the 5,342 units sold a year earlier. The cumulative January-August sales total closed at 26,685 units , below the 36,512 registered in 2024, a decline of 26.9%.
The freight segment accounted for the largest share of retail sales in the eighth month of the year, with 2,578 units , a 43.1% decrease compared to the same month last year. In passenger transport , 593 units were sold, with intercity buses again standing out with 83 sales, just 13.5% less than in 2024.
August’s figures confirm a challenging year for the heavy-duty industry. Factors such as the entry into force of environmental regulations and trade uncertainty with the United States are influencing a market that is progressing, albeit under a cautious environment.
