The use of technology to improve the efficiency of public services is becoming increasingly important, as tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) are redefining the way governments work, thereby seeking to promote the well-being of the population and reduce insecurity in various areas, such as logistics.
In this regard, Querétaro, a state known as a technological hub in Mexico thanks to its installation of data centers, is implementing AI solutions with the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) tool , thereby improving the effectiveness of its 911 emergency system.
This implementation has allowed the state to accelerate the management of judicial processes through digital files.
As part of the Oracle CloudWorld Tour Mexico 2025 , Carlos Salgado , Undersecretary of Information Technology of Querétaro, highlighted that a very robust ecosystem is being created in the state in terms of technology, “because we have become the Silicon Valley of data centers.”
” Oracle has allowed us to implement a gradual process; the company has adapted to us, and our collection system hasn’t had any outages or issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fernando Irure , director of Public Sector Sales at Oracle, said that supporting a government requires additional steps because it’s a specific issue. He added that integrating AI into public security offers specific solutions to specific challenges.
The effort to digitally transform public services aims to ensure a safer environment for both citizens and the industries operating in the state, such as logistics and transportation.
According to the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV) , the central, Bajío, and western regions account for more than 80% of cargo thefts in Mexico, a problem that continues into 2025 and is forcing the logistics sector to rethink prevention and operational strategies.
According to the agency, in 2024 the central region, which includes the State of Mexico, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo and Querétaro , accounted for 61% of all robberies, while the Bajío and western regions accounted for 23% , mainly in Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán and also Querétaro.
In his participation, Alfredo Trejo , director of the Querétaro Coordination Center for Information and Analysis for Security (CQCIAS) , pointed out that technology is a cross-cutting axis that contributes to government processes in different sectors, including the justice system.
He recalled that the relationship with Oracle and the Querétaro government began with the management of a database, and now “we are moving toward more complex technologies like the cloud and AI, which help solve citizen problems.”
The Mexican logistics sector is one of the industries with the highest perception of insecurity, since according to the National Business Victimization Survey (ENVE) 2024, transporting products on roads or highways was the activity in which they reported feeling the most insecure , with 52.2% , which meant an increase of more than two points compared to 2022, when it was 50 percent .
According to the results of this analysis by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) , the movement of products in industrial corridors followed with 43.2% in this period, so implementing technology to reduce insecurity levels is an important step for government administrations.
