PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Q. ROO.- The future of freight transportation is playing out in a field that combines sustainability, technology, and safety . The industry is betting on electric and hydrogen-powered trucks, but true transformation requires looking beyond the engine: crisis response protocols, protected operators, and competitive costs.
This vision was shared by José Luis Alvarado , commercial managing partner of Grupo Galeam , who stated that without clear coordination in risk situations, it will be difficult to move toward sustainable mobility.
“There’s no point in having monitoring centers with advanced technology if there aren’t well-defined protocols,” he explained during his participation in Top Flotillas and LOGEX 2025.
In Mexico, thefts aren’t always due to the high value of the merchandise, but rather to the ease with which it can be sold in street markets and informal markets, the specialist noted.
In this context, technological prevention must be complemented by reaction plans and coordination with authorities, clients and internal teams .
In terms of innovation , Alvarado emphasized that the design of a next-generation truck must incorporate advanced aerodynamics, weight reduction with lighter materials, highly efficient electric powertrains, and predictive route software .
These solutions not only reduce emissions, but also optimize energy consumption and strengthen competitiveness compared to diesel models.
In his speech, he warned that the transition to clean energy cannot lose sight of the reality of the Mexican market : the lack of operators, the threat of crime, and the pressure to keep costs low.
“The most important thing in this capitalist world is to avoid additional or excessive costs, because that defines profitability,” he stressed.
Sustainability, safety, and profitability are the three pillars that, in his opinion, should guide the industry’s path toward the “green truck,” a vehicle that not only reduces its environmental footprint but is also viable in an ecosystem marked by operational risks and fierce competition.
