This story goes from tequila and mezcal to red wine. Bonanza Logistics, a freight forwarder company, has ventured into importing the grape-based beverage produced in the South American vineyards of Argentina and Chile, as well as from European countries such as Australia, Spain, France, Italy, Scotland, Germany, and also from the United States.

“We are starting specialized wine transportation. This is our new division, and our first goal is to approach Mexican importers, as there are several importing houses. What we aim for is to complement and specialize in the handling of wines and spirits in both directions,” says Vicente Salazar, Commercial Director of the company.

He explains that the idea came through his son-in-law, who is a sommelier (wine expert) and represents several Spanish wine houses. They sought to include a specialized service within Bonanza’s portfolio to “support us; he has many contacts in the industry, which is a potential asset for attracting business.”

Salazar mentions they have showcased at events to promote this new product, where they have found a growing demand. “We already have some shipments from Spain, Argentina, and Japan,” he confirms.

Wine importers rely on maritime transport to bring in larger volumes. They use the bonded warehouse arrangement to defer taxes on the cargo until they are withdrawn according to their sales.
