<p><strong><span dir="auto">The decline in heavy vehicle sales continued in March 2026</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , although less pronounced than at the beginning of the year. Without a fundamental recovery, the market continues to reflect caution in fleet renewal and pressure on demand.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">During the third month of the year, </span><strong><span dir="auto">wholesale sales totaled 2,696 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , a decrease of 2.1% compared to the </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,755 registered in the same month of 2025</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , according to figures from the </span><a href="https://www.anpact.com.mx/"><span dir="auto">National Association of Producers of Buses, Trucks and Tractor-Trailers (ANPACT)</span></a><span dir="auto"> .</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Performance within the market was uneven. The cargo segment, which accounts for the largest volume, registered a 2.9% growth, with </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,276 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> sold . This increase was primarily driven by the Class 8, which jumped from 393 to 855 units sold during the period.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">However, not all segments followed this trend. Fifth-wheel tractors, one of the main drivers of the market, remained under pressure, falling 31.3%, with 919 units sold in March 2026 compared to 1,338 in March 2025.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_672172" class="wp-caption aligncenter" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-672172"><img decoding="async" class="wp-image-672172 size-full" src="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1.png" sizes="(max-width: 987px) 100vw, 987px" srcset="https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1.png 987w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-300x173.png 300w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-768x444.png 768w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-600x347.png 600w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-150x87.png 150w, https://t21.com.mx/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/anpact-1-750x433.png 750w" alt="" width="987" height="570" data-pin-no-hover="true" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-672172" class="wp-caption-text"><span dir="auto">Source: ANPACT.</span></figcaption></figure>
<p><span dir="auto">In contrast, other classes showed increases, such as </span><strong><span dir="auto">Class 6, which grew 70.2%</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , and Class 5 with an increase of 24.7%, although with a smaller share within the total.</span></p>
<p><span dir="auto">Beyond the monthly results, the first-quarter figures confirm that the adjustment continues. Between January and March 2026, </span><strong><span dir="auto">wholesale sales totaled 6,159 units</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , representing a </span><strong><span dir="auto">20.5% decrease</span></strong><span dir="auto"> compared to the 7,752 units sold during the same period in 2025.</span></p>
<p data-start="191" data-end="489"><span dir="auto">In the </span><strong><span dir="auto">retail</span></strong><span dir="auto"> channel , the performance was more negative than in wholesale. During March 2026 , </span><strong><span dir="auto">2,699 vehicles were sold</span></strong><span dir="auto"> , a 23.3% drop compared to the 3,517 registered in the same month of 2025, according to figures from ANPACT.</span></p>

Within this segment, fifth-wheel tractors again showed the greatest pressure, with a 39.1% drop, while Class 8 trucks grew by 16.7%, but this was not enough to offset the overall decline in the segment.</span></p>

<p><strong><span>The wholesale</span></strong><span> market registered a </span><strong><span>66.8%</span></strong><span> drop compared to the same month in 2024, with </span><strong><span>2,228 units sold (cargo and passenger vehicles).</span></strong></p>
<p><span>The sharpest drop was observed in </span><strong><span>wholesale freight</span></strong><span> vehicles , which fell from </span><strong><span>6,046</span></strong><span> units in June 2024 to just </span><strong><span>1,936</span></strong><span> during the sixth month of this year, a contraction of </span><strong><span>68 percent</span></strong><span> .</span></p>
<p><span>Particularly worrying was the collapse in fifth-wheel tractor-trailers, with a decrease of </span><strong><span>78.7%</span></strong><span> , going from </span><strong><span>4,032 to 897 units</span></strong><span> .</span></p>

<p><strong><span>In turn, retail sales</span></strong><span> contracted by </span><strong><span>31.8%</span></strong><span> , with the sale of </span><strong><span>3,066 units (cargo and passengers)</span></strong><span> .</span></p>
<p><span>The cargo segment also declined, although to a lesser extent: </span><strong><span>2,422 units sold</span></strong><span> compared to </span><strong><span>3,866</span></strong><span> in June of the previous year, representing a </span><strong><span>37.4% decrease</span></strong><span> .</span></p>
<p><strong><span>In the case of passenger</span></strong><span> vehicles , wholesale sales fell by </span><strong><span>55.6%</span></strong><span> , closing at </span><strong><span>292 units</span></strong><span> , while retail sales totaled </span><strong><span>644</span></strong><span> , a decrease of </span><strong><span>2.7%</span></strong><span> compared to 2024.</span></p>

<p><span>The Class 2 and 3 cargo segments were the exception. In </span><strong><span>retail sales</span></strong><span> , these categories increased by </span><strong><span>85.8%</span></strong><span> , rising from </span><strong><span>395 to 734 units</span></strong><span> . Class 2, in particular, doubled its figures with an </span><strong><span>84.1%</span></strong><span> increase , driven by interest in lighter, more efficient vehicles for urban delivery.</span></p>
<p><span>The overall balance sheet reflects a challenging semester for the heavy vehicle manufacturing industry in Mexico. While the sector expects rebounds in the second half of the year, the data confirms the slowdown that specialists had anticipated since the beginning of the year.</span></p>
