From July 2023 to July 2024, the value of wholesale grocery sales grew 4.8% in the country, as reported by Iñaki Landáburu Llaguno , executive president of the National Association of Wholesale Grocers (ANAM).

In a statement, it was announced that serums were the category that reported the greatest increase in said period, with 27.5% ; followed by carbonated beverages, with 20.8%, and insecticides with 20.4 percent.

In terms of regions, the southeast of the country was the one that concentrated the most sales, with 25.7% of the total , according to Systematized Information on Channels and Markets (ISCAM).

When reviewing only 2024, this sector maintains a positive trend. In the cumulative period from January to June 2024, the wholesale grocery channel showed a positive performance by growing just over 4.3% in its sales in value .

According to ISCAM, during this period, the most relevant categories were biscuits with a 6% share and toilet paper with 5.6%, followed by laundry detergents with 3.8% and oral serums, with three percent.

According to ISCAM data, by the sixth month of the year the wholesale grocery channel represented 1.5% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 5.8% of the GDP in the trade sector .

ISCAM highlighted that in the broad panorama of product distribution in Mexico, the wholesale grocery channel occupies an essential place, since almost 50% of the industry’s volume in the world of groceries passes through here, supplying the thousands of small stores in the country.

In order to achieve greater engagement in this channel, the “XXVII Expo ANAM 2024” began this Tuesday, September 3, at the Puebla Exhibition Center , located in Los Fuertes of said city, which will conclude on September 5.
