For José Luis Alvarado Martínez, commercial managing partner of Grupo Galeam , the key lies not in brute force or isolated technology, but in the design of clear protocols, predictive schemes, and coordination among all actors in the chain.

“The most important thing is the protocol. You can have the best systems, but if operators, custodians, and clients don’t know what to do in a risky situation, the criminal is completely taken by surprise. Prevention depends on preparation,” he noted in an interview.

Grupo Galeam works with risk analysis that allows them to detect weaknesses before the client is even aware of them. From there, they build plans that combine physical, logistical, electronic, and personal security.

The Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) functions as an operational brain, integrating satellite tracking, real-time monitoring, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms to anticipate roadside incidents. The rationale is to avoid direct confrontation with organized crime, prioritizing anticipation and deterrence.

Alvarado described the market as “highly dynamic ,” meaning security needs change depending on the client’s operations: if a company expands its distribution routes, the priority may be logistics; if it welcomes more expatriates, executive protection becomes the priority.

“What we do is adapt. Security isn’t linear: it changes from one day to the next, and that’s the challenge,” he explained.

Although the company incorporates AI and automated tools to detect risks or perform repetitive tasks, the executive emphasized that technology does not replace the human factor .

“A sensor can warn you if an operator is falling asleep, but the key remains the ability to make quick decisions under a shared protocol,” he stressed.

Alvarado’s testimony reflects a dilemma that runs through the entire logistics industry: how to protect goods, people, and operations without slowing down the flow of commerce .

Crime is evolving rapidly, and businesses must respond with innovation, intelligence, and coordination to stay ahead.

With 14 years of experience and approximately two thousand employees , Grupo Galeam plans to grow to five thousand people in the next five years.

However, Alvarado said his goal is not to become one of the largest companies in terms of volume, but rather a sustainable and profitable organization capable of sustaining long-term operations in a high-pressure environment.

AUSTIN, TX — The future of transportation was the main topic addressed at Motive Vision 2025 , an event focusing on technological innovations that are revolutionizing safety in the industry and the people who support it.

In the United States, $11 billion is lost each year due to not wearing seat belts , and 94% of accidents are caused by human decisions.

Most seriously, more than nine deaths a day are due to distracted driving , and more than 50% of crashes occur at or near intersections.

At the event, experts mentioned that the future of transportation isn’t built solely on innovation, but on uncomfortable conversations, listening to experiences, and recognizing mistakes.

“You can have the best technology in the world, but if you don’t have safety programs that actually change behavior, you’re not going to get the results you want,” said Jim Higby, Lead Safety and Compliance Strategy at Motive , during the event .

The figures are alarming, and they also increase when we talk about the fact that 1.9 million people in the world lose their lives due to traffic accidents, according to a United Nations report , and the situation does not improve if the figures are delved into Mexico, since, according to the Aleatica Road Safety Monitor , there are 15,674 deaths in 2022 alone due to this type of accident.

In this sense, digitalization and the use of technologies for transportation safety gain relevance.

For example, Jaimie Weinberger , a sales engineer at Motive, mentioned a common reality among fleet managers: a reliance on spreadsheets.

“Excel is great until it isn’t,” he said.

He explained that many managers must become impromptu data scientists to answer basic questions about their operations.

This manual work, which includes downloading multiple spreadsheets and spending hours generating reports, means that key tasks such as driver training, preventive maintenance planning, and cross-departmental collaboration fall by the wayside.

Emily Parsons , Senior Product Manager at Motive, added that the goal of Motive Analytics is to simplify access to data without requiring advanced technical knowledge.

With this solution, users can view events such as violations, maintenance, or safety by driver or vehicle type , with the ability to edit and share reports instantly.

Michael O’Neil , Project Manager at Reliable Carriers , a customer and user of the system, shared how it has transformed his team’s work.

“It’s no longer about manually creating reports and spending hours combining data. Now everything is at our fingertips, from truck routes to speeding violations,” he said.

He also highlighted that other areas such as maintenance and finance are now also using the tool.

One of the biggest benefits, he said, has been improving the driver coaching experience.

“Recently, a driver received a complaint. We were able to review the video and all the associated data, and that opened the door to a positive conversation. The driver even asked how to improve. Now we have data that helps us grow, not just penalize us,” he said.

In this context, companies such as KONNEN have emerged with a business model that focuses on the transfer, care and protection of high-value goods, using a fleet of armored vehicles with real-time tracking and monitoring technology, as well as advanced applications designed to optimize the supply chain.

Motive, with 14 years of experience in the market, focused on offering solutions to small fleets of trucks , seeking to improve the productivity of drivers, but over the years, this vision grew, focusing its efforts on the digitalization of the physical world, a change that has transformed its proposal and its impact on the transportation industry.

Today, the company not only offers a technological solution, but also a comprehensive platform that improves operational efficiency and reinforces road and property safety.

“We have evolved towards a solution that allows the digitalization of activities in the physical world. What does this mean? Everything that happens around a unit can be represented in data, allowing companies to be more efficient, productive and, at the same time, contribute to improving road and property safety,” explained Omar Camacho, general manager of Motive Mexico.

Camacho said in an interview that Mexico faces particular challenges in the transportation sector and referred to statistics indicating that a truck theft is reported every 20 minutes in the country, and road accidents have increased alarmingly.

He also highlighted that the United Nations has stipulated that by 2030, accidents must be reduced by 50% globally ; however, in Mexico, the figures have increased instead of decreasing.

“While the world is trying to reduce accidents, in Mexico we have doubled them from one year to the next,” warned Camacho.

In this sense, Motive has found fertile ground for its technology in the country, adapting its solutions to the specific needs of the market.

Omar Camacho said that the challenges facing Mexico are aligned with Motive’s value proposition: security, productivity and risk management .

“Customers are looking for solutions that allow them to reduce these risks, and our technology has proven to be an efficient response,” he said.

Camacho also stressed the impact of cell phone use on traffic accidents , describing it as an ‘epidemic of distraction’ that has worsened road safety conditions.

In light of this situation, Motive has developed artificial intelligence systems that help drivers react better to risky situations.

The executive said that this technology can detect when a driver is tired, distracted or at risk of having an accident, offering real-time alerts that can prevent these events.

One of the pillars of Motive’s offering is the use of artificial intelligence , a technological advance that, according to Camacho, translates into two fundamental areas: the capture of information and the ability to generate responses.

“Today, our artificial intelligence works with physical components that monitor what is happening around the transport unit. For example, a system can detect that a vehicle ahead is slowing down without any clear signs. In these cases, the technology acts faster than humans, helping the driver to react appropriately,” he said.

Motive not only focuses on improving road safety, but also on optimizing its clients’ operating times and costs , reducing downtime and driver retention through customized programs.

Motive’s technology also enables real-time monitoring of unit maintenance, helping to prevent unexpected failures and keep fleets on the road continuously.

Currently, Motive has more than 160 thousand clients throughout the Americas , which gives it a valuable database to continue perfecting its artificial intelligence models, since as Omar Camacho explained, they use the information anonymously to identify behavioral patterns , such as fatigue or distraction, and generate predictive models that help avoid incidents.

Offer tailored to Mexico: Security Suite

In its expansion process into Mexico, Motive has understood that the challenges of this market are different from those of the United States.

“In the United States, the focus has been much more on productivity and road safety. In Mexico, we face problems with infrastructure, property security and social challenges,” Camacho explained.

To address these particularities, the company has developed the Security Suite , a set of tools adapted to the country’s specific security challenges.

The Security Suite includes innovations such as engine immobilizers, door sensors, panic buttons and 360-degree cameras , designed to prevent theft and ensure the safety of the driver and cargo.

“Our goal is not just to sell a predefined package of tools, but to understand the specific challenges of each client and adapt our solutions to their needs,” he added.

One aspect that Motive has identified as essential to the success of its solutions is the way in which companies manage the relationship with their drivers when incorporating these technological tools, since, sometimes, the driver perceives the installation of a camera or a monitoring system as a form of constant supervision, which generates distrust.

Therefore, the solutions are accompanied by programs that help drivers understand that these technologies are designed for their well-being and safety , Camacho said.

Since it began operating in Mexico in 2023, Motive has experienced accelerated growth, strengthening its presence, and aims to double the size of its operations in the country next year.

“We believe that Mexico has enormous potential, but it also presents very specific challenges. That is why we continue to grow hand in hand with our clients, understanding their problems and adapting our technology to their needs. This has allowed us to be one step ahead, both in terms of technological innovation and in our ability to offer solutions that really make a difference,” said Omar Camacho.
