QUERÉTARO, QRO.- According to estimates by the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) , in Mexico deficiencies in logistics infrastructure cost up to 12% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) . 4% more than its main commercial partner.

In this sense, having more and better infrastructure is essential for a country that has benefited from the relocation of manufacturing centers ( nearshoring ) and that has also attracted historic Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which at the end of the second quarter of the year totaled 31,096 million dollars (million dollars).

Taking into account this reality and with the goal of contributing to the streamlining of traffic on Highway 57, one of the main arteries of the country, as well as reducing travel times, minimizing the risk of road incidents and avoiding productivity losses for companies. of cargo transportation, the Ventura-El Peyote highway was inaugurated in San Luis Potosí, a road that allows cargo vehicles to reduce their travel times and at the same time strengthen road and property safety.

“The country’s logistics cost is very high, in this sense Mexico must make it a priority to have quality services and infrastructure. That is why with the new road we are favoring cargo vehicles that travel through the T-MEC corridor, and we are also facilitating the movements of goods and merchandise from south to north and vice versa. With the new highway, our priority is to improve the level of service to the user, a point that focuses on streamlining crossings at the booths,” César Ramos, general director of META , detailed in an interview for T21 , within the framework of the eighth National Congress. in Road Safety organized by the National Association of Private Transport (ANTP) .

In response to this priority, META implemented fast crossing in forward lanes, where the reading of the electronic means of payment occurs between 180 and 200 meters before reaching the toll plaza, this allows the vehicle to maintain its speed and not It is necessary to stop at the booth , unless you have no balance and it is necessary to detour.

In addition to the speed at the toll plazas, the new highway improves security by having video surveillance on practically 100% of the 40-kilometer extension of the highway. Furthermore, once the vehicle accesses the road section it enters a tunnel, which prevents any type of deviation.

The Ventura-El Peyote Highway in San Luis Potosí is equipped with state-of-the-art traffic management systems, sensors that monitor road conditions and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. “What we want is to add kilometers to our San Luis Potosí bypass network and for transportation teams not to enter the city, but rather to reach the final destination, which is the north of the country, faster,” commented the manager.

To date, META has 140 kilometers of roads on Highway 57, the next step is to extend the communication route by 70 kilometers, to reach 210 km in the medium term . “All our investments are designed to benefit users for a long time,” Ramos shared.
