Driven by the growth of cross-border trade and the increasing opportunities brought about by nearshoring in North America, SIEM Business launched operations of its new subsidiary, SIEM Mountain, which will serve as the ultimate logistical and legal bridge between Mexico and the United States.

These facilities are located in the border industrial zone at 12110 Esther Lama Drive, El Paso, Texas, with immediate access to I-10 and a proximity of six miles to the international bridges on the border with Mexico.

SIEM Mountain’s new facility boasts 100,000 sq ft (approximately 9,200 sq m) of optimized operating space for warehousing and cross-docking. It features a 24 ft clearance height and a total of 28 dock doors to ensure efficient loading and unloading. Additionally, there is a 200 ft truck yard with dedicated parking for 30 trailers simultaneously.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics , freight trade between Mexico and the United States reached $86 billion in April 2026 alone, a 23.4% year-over-year increase, with El Paso consolidated as one of the top three truck freight ports with Mexico.

While the Ministry of Economy reported that during last May Mexican exports to the United States broke a historic record of 54.18 billion dollars, accumulating 558 billion dollars in the last 12 months and confirming Mexico as the main trading partner of the United States.

“El Paso has established itself as one of the three main cargo ports between Mexico and the United States, markets that exchange more than $558 million annually in Mexican exports to the United States,” Islas Arias explained.

In this regard, he explained that SIEM Mountain will have 360° coverage , integrating all links of the global and cross-border supply chain into a single entity.

Kuehne+Nagel , a global logistics solutions company, expanded its facilities in El Paso, Texas, USA, adding 20,252 square meters (m2 ⁾ to its existing facilities, which meant a 60% increase in its operational capacity .

Joachim Goller, senior vice president of North American Ground Logistics, noted that the existing 33,723 m2 facility ^reached  its maximum capacity in just one year , reflecting the growing demand for cross-border logistics solutions.

“This success underscores the need for scalable expansion to support our existing customers and new businesses, while maintaining the high standards they expect. This investment further strengthens our market position on the U.S.-Mexico border and confirms that, despite current geopolitical changes, the nearshoring trend is alive and well,” he said.

The new facilities, strategically located on the border, are designed to meet the growing demand for bidirectional freight transport between Mexico and the United States.  The new customs warehouse features 53 loading docks, 65 truck bays, front and rear transshipment capacity, and vertical racking , the company emphasized in a statement.

The firm highlighted that, despite tariff uncertainty, international companies continue to invest in relocating their production lines to Mexico . In response, the company expanded its infrastructure to support its clients in building more resilient supply chains.

El cargo Kuehne+Nagel expands capacity at its El Paso facility apareció primero en T21.

Grupo Bafar , a Mexican food company, is building a new distribution and logistics center in El Paso, Texas, which will be ready by July of this year at the latest . This infrastructure will allow it to continue its growth over the next few years.

Ana María Velo, the company’s International Trade Manager, told T21 that they will also have their corporate offices and, with both infrastructures, “they will have the advantage” to continue positioning themselves in the United States.

“We intend to increase our brands and products in different parts of this country, as well as export to Canada and other regions,” he said.

He explained that this new facility, in its first stage, will cover all the needs of the group, and will have up to three thousand storage positions for refrigerated, frozen and dry products.

For the second stage, they expect a similar growth in positions, thereby providing services to the company and to third parties.

“This center covers storage and we will have 12 crossdock doors for the start-up, as well as inspection, a CTPAT warehouse with all the authorizations required to cover the needs of foreign trade and all the requirements in the area of ​​cargo and something else, that is, like nuts or chili, products that are sold on the border, especially in Ciudad Juárez or Laredo,” he said.

Regarding the expansion into Latin America, which T21 reported at the time, they specified that they managed to export sausages to Cuba during 2024 , however there was a halt in this shipment, but they are already in negotiations again.

However, shipments to Chile, Puerto Rico, and Japan have begun and continue, while with China “there have been some details, but we are working with the authorities to finalize it, we have many products to send and we believe that they will be very successful.”

It is worth mentioning that Grupo Bafar exports hams such as turkey or pork, as well as boneless chicken, buffalo or natural, among a wide variety of other value-added products.

“We have a plant in Chihuahua where we produce them, and that is a plus for positioning a product. We have some nuggets that caused a boom and we are venturing into beef with the Durango plant. We have managed to enter the United States and other countries,” he said.

Although 2024 was a year of changes and challenges, for Grupo Bafar it was also a year of growth, recording revenues of just over 28,491 million pesos, which represented 11% more than the previous year.

Consolidated gross profit was 8.92 billion pesos, an increase of almost 16% and a gross margin of 31 percent. Meanwhile, EBITDA showed a very outstanding performance, reaching 5.207 billion pesos, with a margin of 18 percent. Finally, consolidated net profit closed at 2.051 billion pesos, with a net margin of 7 percent.

El cargo Grupo Bafar’s distribution and logistics center in Texas will be ready this year apareció primero en T21.

AP Moller – Maersk (Maersk) said Thursday it has opened a new 400,000-square-foot facility in El Paso, Texas , to meet growing demand for logistics services along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The facility is located five minutes from the Ysleta-Zaragoza International Bridge on the border of El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, where it seeks to streamline cross-border trade activities between the two countries.

The Ysleta Port of Entry is the largest commercial port in the district of this town and a key corridor for goods leaving Mexico heading north.

This new logistics center is also located along a popular stopping point for trucks heading north and south across the border and for U.S. domestic freight heading east and west along Interstate 10.

With 73 access doors, two oversized cargo ramps and 116 truck yard spaces , the multi-customer facility is designed for cargo receiving, sorting and consolidation, as well as cargo distribution across North America using Maersk’s inland freight network. It is equipped with 24-hour surveillance and a fully fenced yard, according to a company press release.

Gordon Branov, director of less-than-truckload (LTL), full-truckload (FTL) and line haul for Maersk North America, said the opening of the El Paso facility is a milestone for Maersk in North America, reinforcing its commitment to serving customers’ cross-border LTL and freight needs .

“Maersk’s ambition is to be the logistics integrator, and this strategic move allows us to offer customers an expanded product portfolio, spanning maritime, warehousing and distribution, and land transport services, tailored to the complexities of cross-border trade,” Branov explained.

The facility is a bonded warehouse, allowing customers to delay payment of customs duties until the merchandise is released for consumption or re-exported. Additionally, the site features a 7,400-square-meter Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) , where customers can store products indefinitely without incurring duties. Customers can also rent office space within the facility, providing authorized personnel with convenient access to their inventory.

The site is C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) certified , a voluntary trade partnership program of the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to secure and facilitate the movement of legitimate international trade, and is ISO 9001:2015 certified, the international standard of excellence for quality management systems.

On-site warehousing services support customers in a variety of industries, including automotive, healthcare, retail, and technology. Services include freight sortation, warehousing, cross-docking , inventory management, and order fulfillment, as well as value-added solutions such as reverse logistics, outfitting, and supplier management. Other services include LCL container freight, FCL freight, Maersk ground freight (LTL, FTL, as well as cross-border FTL and LTL freight), air freight consolidations, and expedited freight services.

Maersk has more than 150 warehouse facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico totaling more than 2.4 million square meters. In March of this year, Maersk announced the opening of a new warehouse in Tijuana, Mexico.
